Author Guidelines

1. Authorship –

1. Authors shall agree on authorship details such as the primary author and order of other authors prior to submission of an article to KJRI. For their own sake these agreement is best put in writing as KJRI will receive, review and publish the article as submitted by the corresponding author.

2. Any unresolved conflicts that come to the attention of the editorial board may lead to a retraction of a published article or a stay in the review process until evidence of an agreement is provided.

2. Acknowledgment – Authors shall indicate their institutional affiliations at the point when the research was undertaken. All funding for the research work and publication must also be acknowledged in the paper.

3. Changes in authorship –

1. Where changes in authorship are required to an already published article then all the authors shall communicate with the editor in Chief regarding the proposed change and provide a justification for the change.

2. The journal editorial board reserves the right to accept or reject the request.

4. Manuscript format – All manuscripts submitted for review and publication must adhere to the template provided. Submissions for review must not contain any information that can identify the authors in order to facilitate the blind review. Download Paper Template here

5. Submission of manuscript – All manuscripts for review and publication must be submitted using the online submission system on http://ojs.kabarak.ac.ke

6. Processing fees – KJRI charges a processing fee of KES 5,000 which must be paid prior to the commencement of the review process. Advice on the payment will be provided by the editor in chief once pleliminary review of the paper has been done. Payment of the processing fee does not guarantee publication as the article may be rejected by the reviewers.

7. Conflict of interest – Authors with any conflict of interest such as known relations or conflicts with any member of the editorial or review team will be required to bring this to the attention of the Editor in Chief or the coordinator of editorial and publications at Kabarak University.

8. Publication ethics – Authors must not submit articles that are being currently reviewed by other journals, articles that have already been published or articles that have been plagiarized.

9. Confidentiality – Authors must treat all communication between themselves and KJRI as confidential save for decisions made on the articles submitted.

10. Correction and retraction of publications –

1. Authors may request or be requested to make corrections to published articles.

2. Depending on the extent or magnitude of the corrections made, the editorial board may decide to subject the article to further review.

3. Published articles may be retracted by the editorial board if significant ethical issues arise from the publication.

4. Authors may also request for their published articles to be retracted. The editorial board reserves the right to accept or reject such requests.

11. Copyrights – Authors retain all the copyrights for published articles.
